My oldest brother Eric passed away on February 1 at Stanford Hospital. For more on his life, please see the detailed memorial I posted yesterday on his Tunami Rangers sea kayaking blog:
John, my heart aches for you & your family. Looking at the photo of you & your brother eric brought tears to my eyes. What an exciting life he has lived & his connection with people & nature is really a tribute. The world is crying with you, but the world was very lucky & fortunate to have had been blessed with eric. Prayers & deepest condolencesto you & your family.
I happened upon this article and the family has my condolences. I first met Eric John Soares when we were stationed with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, California (1972-1973). I was not as adventurous as Eric, but as many know, if you are around Eric, you soon will be. When we went our separate ways, we stayed in touch. He eventually visited with me and my family when I was stationed at Barbers Point, Hawaii. When I left the Navy, returning to Toledo, Ohio, Eric was well on his way toward his PhD in Bowling Green, Ohio and that way the last time I saw Eric. Often thought of him and the crazy things we did. Rest in peace dear friend, rest in peace.
Hi John. I went to school with Eric and lived over on Lloyd lane in Anderson. I tryed to find him and i did talk to him several years ago and lost touch with him. I did not know how much he was invloved with Kayahing and what a great life he had. I just found out today about him passing. I always thought a lot of him. What a loss.
