Any Changes for Reprint of 100 Classic Hikes in Northern California?

Just heard from The Mountaineers Books, the publisher of my two hiking guidebooks. We’re doing a reprint of 100 Classic Hikes in Northern California, third edition.

I’ll go through the book and check the URLs, etc, but I’m also asking readers…

Any Changes?

I’m sure nearly all of the material is current, but things can change. A new trail may be created off a trail I described, or a recent fire could have closed a trail or park.

So I’d like your help. If you know of anything in the book that is incorrect, please send me an e-mail: johnsoares 99 -at- yahoo.com. (Prefer they not be in the comments…)

I’m looking for important changes that will impact hikers over the next few years. If a trail is closed for a short period of time (like the Feather Falls trail was in 2011), I won’t include that. And with the perils of California’s budget, there’s always the threat of some state parks being closed and even off limits to hikers, but that can change from year to year, so I won’t include that either.

A reprint can only incorporate minor changes of text since the layout itself needs to stay the same. Major changes will need to wait for the fourth edition.

My deadline is April 15, 2011.
