Hey folks — here’s a chance to do help out an excellent charity, and to do it while you hike.
Here’s the e-mail I received from Bill Rowland explaining the program. Please click the links to find out more and to sign up.
Hi John,
My name is Bill Rowland and I’m a volunteer with the American Foundation for Children with AIDS. I recently encountered your Northern California Hiking Trails Blog and I wanted to introduce myself as well as our Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up charity event.
Briefly, Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up is a set of self-directed charity events that invite hikers, climbers, runners and cyclists to take on a physical challenge to benefit African children with AIDS. Climb Up events are self-directed, which means participants take on a meaningful athletic challenge and raise funds on our behalf. We already have a series of events being held in rock climbing gyms across the country and we have an expedition of Nike employees climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro during our event in September.
I’m attempting to promote our events and I thought that you may be interested in our event as a possible story for your blog, or possibly participate yourself. Moreover, an event like this may offer a good opportunity to energize your community.
I’d like the opportunity to tell you more about our event and organization. You may find more information on the event website: http://www.climbupsokidscangrowup.com/ or our organization’s website here: http://www.helpchildrenwithaids.org/
Thanks & I hope to catch up with you sometime soon.
Bill
