It was closed for much of 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Here are the\u00a0 details from an early 2024 McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park press release announcing the Falls Loop Trail closure, <strong>which is no longer in effect<\/strong>, and the reasons why the trail closure was necessary.<\/p>\n<p>California State Parks today announced the temporary closure of the main trails that provide access to the highly-visited falls at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park. The $835,000 project and trail closures are estimated to begin on April 1, pending weather conditions, and will remain in place for the duration of the 2024 summer season and most likely the fall season. The closure is to address critical repairs and improvements to the trails and natural slopes that have been impacted by high visitation and substantial use of these sensitive areas for foot access to the pool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s closed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Falls Loop Trail<\/li>\n<li>Burney Creek Trail<\/li>\n<li>Visitors will have no access to the waterfall or fall\u2019s pool area, and will only have limited views from the viewing area at the top of the falls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>What\u2019s open?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The remainder of the park will be open for visitors including the Rim and Pioneer campgrounds, Burney Falls General Store, Marina, Visitor Center, and day-use areas.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/northerncaliforniahikingtrails.com\/blog\/2022\/05\/12\/burney-falls-hiking-trails\/\">Rim Trail, PSEA Trail, Headwaters Trail and Pioneer Cemetery Trail<\/a> will remain open for visitors.<\/li>\n<li>The Fisherman\u2019s Bridge will remain open to provide access to and from park via the Pacific Crest Trail, Headwaters Trail Loop, and Headwaters Equestrian Camp only from the Falls Overlook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8717\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8717\" style=\"width: 769px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8717\" src=\"https:\/\/northerncaliforniahikingtrails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/burney-falls-trail-closures-2024.jpg\" alt=\"Map of 2024 Burney Falls trail closures, including the Falls Loop Trail.
