However, remember that this is October, and you must be prepared for winter conditions at such a high elevation. Don&#8217;t go unless you have the equipment, experience and physical stamina.<\/p>\n<p>A recent tragedy\u00a0in the Sierra Nevada\u00a0took a hiker&#8217;s life:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">\u00a0<\/span>PLACER COUNTY, CA &#8211; A hiker died and three others were rescued Saturday after the group became lost in cold rainy weather in the Sierra, Placer County officials said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Placer County&#8217;s search and rescue team was dispatched around 6:45 a.m. Saturday after the four used a cell phone\u00a0to call 911 after suffering through a night of cold, rainy weather at more than 8,900 feet elevation, Placer County Sheriff&#8217;s Lt. Jeff Ausnow said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The group started their hike at Echo Lake in El Dorado County last weekend and despite tents and other supplies were not prepared for a frigid night in the wilderness with temperatures around 30 degrees, Dellinger said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This appear to be a hypothermia death caused by lack of preparation for the conditions.
