The fifth annual Mount Shasta International Film Festival<\/a> runs from Friday, October 10th, through Sunday, October 12th. Festival Founder and Director Jeffrey Winters and a dedicated crew of volunteers (including Jeffrey’s lovely wife Danielle) have gone all out to select outstanding films for you to enjoy. And there’s the town-favorite gala on Thursday, October 9th. Jeffrey Winters:<\/p>\n

This year the Gala party is Thursday October 9th at 7PM at the Community Center. We are expecting quite a few filmmakers to come to Mount Shasta, show their films, attend the Gala and offer Q & A\u2019s with the audience. The Gala is fun, entertaining, filled with great food and wine.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mount Shasta International Film Festival<\/h2>\n

‘For you out-of-town film-loving hikers, now is a fantastic time to visit the Mount Shasta area. The fall colors are reaching a vibrant peak, and you can still do a\u00a0 lot of hikes. I’ve recently blogged about high-elevation trails Little Castle Lake and Mount Bradley Ridge<\/a>, Pacific Crest Trail to Seven Lakes Basin<\/a>, Mount Shasta’s Old Ski Bowl<\/a>, and the Deadfall Lakes near Mount Eddy<\/a>. But if there’s snow up there, or it’s too cold for your blood, hike the low-elevation Squaw Valley Creek Trail, or the Lake Siskiyou Trail, or the Elsa Rupp Nature Trail, or the Castle Dome Trail. Get more information on what to see and where to stay at the Siskiyou County Visitors’ Bureau and the Mount Shasta Chamber of Commerce<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Outdoors types will want to see Everest: A Time for Peace<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Filmed on location in Nepal, Tibet, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, U.A.E, and the United States, the film chronicles the spectacular journey of 9 \u2018peace climbers\u2019 from different faiths and cultures as they climb to the summit of the tallest mountain in the world. The focus is on a Palestinian and two Israeli climbers. They come together and set aside their differences to forge a path of teamwork and cooperation to attempt to summit the world\u2019s highest peak. Each knows that on Everest the cooperation of your teammate is a matter of life and death.<\/p>\n

Director Lance Trumbull will be offering a Q&A after the showing of the film.<\/em><\/p>\n
