I was at a tai chi\/internal martial arts workshop in the picturesque small town that stretches along some of the most beautiful coastline I&#8217;ve ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>I picked up my <a title=\"Gene Burnett, Ashland Oregon tai chi teacher\" href=\"http:\/\/www.GeneBurnett.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tai chi teacher Gene Burnett in Ashland<\/a>, just across the California line, and we drove together to the Sunset Motel in Bandon, where we all stay. The <a title=\"Sunset motel in Bandon, Oregon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sunsetmotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sunset Motel<\/a> sits directly above a flat beach punctuated with numerous rocks and seastacks, and it&#8217;s the ideal venue for outdoors tai chi.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the participants and instructors came from Seattle, including <a title=\"Andy Dale Seattle tai chi, bagua, qi gong\" href=\"http:\/\/www.atdale.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andy Dale<\/a>, Michelle Pleasant, and organizer Ken Wright. The classes I took focused on Sanshou, our partner tai chi form; bagua and related applications, including joint locks and throws; push hands and applications; and defense against knife attacks.<\/p>\n<h2>Walking the Beaches of Bandon, Oregon<\/h2>\n<p>I also took several long walks along the beach at sunrise and sunset, which corresponded with low tide.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of my pics.
