Living Landscape<\/em> has just been published. The book details the first 75 years of the East Bay Regional Park District, including the development of many of its trails.<\/p>\n

East Bay Regional Park District Trails History<\/h2>\n

I’m a big fan of the East Bay Regional Park District<\/a>. I did a lot of hiking East Bay hiking trails<\/a> when I lived with my sea kayaking brother Eric Soares<\/a> in Alameda in the 1980s.<\/p>\n

Now Wilderness Press, a high-quality publisher of hiking guidebooks and other outdoors books, has issued Living Landscape<\/em> about the history of the East Bay Regional Park District. Here are the details from a press release.<\/p>\n

Living Landscape Author Laura McCreery Book Signing<\/h2>\n

On Friday September 10, 2010 from 5-8 p.m., the East Bay Regional Park District will hold a hosted reception and author signing of the recently-published Living Landscape<\/em> book, which details the history of the Park District\u2019s 75 years. The reception will take place at the Oakland Museum of California on the Peace Terrace, located outdoors on the third level. It is open to the public by sending an RSVP by September 3 to bmontano@ebparks.org or by calling 1-510-544-2200.<\/p>\n

Published by Wilderness Press, Living Landscape traces the Park District\u2019s beginnings during the Great Depression and goes behind the scenes to disclose how the Park District became the largest regional park agency in the nation. Author Laura McCreery will sign books during the event. Books will be available for purchase at the event courtesy of the Museum.<\/p>\n

The Oakland Museum of California is at 1000 Oak Street, at 10th Street, in Oakland. More information including driving and parking directions can be found at www.museumca.org\/visit.<\/p>\n
