The Siskiyou Wanderers hiking group continues its Thursday rambles. Here’s the Siskiyou Wanderers hike schedule for January:
Jan 7: Scott Mountain Snowshoe and or Ski: Bring your cross-country skis or snowshoes to enjoy the wilderness in the snow starting from the Highway 3 Scott Mountain Summit. Alternate activity is to hike Masterson Road through scenic and slightly hilly ranch/mini-estate country just east of Callahan. Snow patches or mud may be present. AD: 6+ miles THE: 5,401′ AEG: 800′+ PMP: Callahan T: 9:00 am.
Jan 14: Hovey Gulch: Road hike from Little Shasta Cemetery, and go north to the summit where the road descends into Willow Creek drainage. If no fog, great views of Shasta Valley and Mount Shasta. AD: 8-9 miles THE: 2,800′ AEG: 780′ PMP: Montague Statue T: 9:00 am.
Jan 21: East Shore McCloud Lake: Hike the road on the eastside of McCloud Lake, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the lake. AD: 7-8 miles THE: 2,700′ AEG: +/- 100′ PMP: Mount Shasta Fish Hatchery T: 9:00 am.
Jan 28: Kidder Creek: A new road hike in Scott Valley on Kidder Creek Road from the valley floor going toward the Marbles along Kidder Creek. A couple of alternatives to choose from. AD: 6-8 miles. THE: 3,130′ AEG: 720′ – 1,180′ PMP: Yreka Mall/Greenview Grange T: 9:00 am/9:40 am.
