Those wild and crazy Siskiyou Wanderers have their winter hiking schedule set, and you can see it at the new Siskiyou Wanderers website. They are always open to having new people join them on their rambles.
Here are the January hikes:
Jan 15: Hovey Gulch Road:
A new road hike in Little Shasta Valley from Ball Mountain road going north to the summit where the road desends into Willow Creek Basin, with good views of Shasta Valley and Mt. Shasta. AD: 6.5 miles. THE: 2,800′ AEG: 780′ PMP: Yreka Mall T: 9:00 am.
Jan 22: West Scarface Road:
Just outside Fort Jones, this hike goes from the Scott Valley Floor, in an area called Hungry Hollow, up the hill to a pass overlooking the valley, and the snow capped Russians and Trinities to the south. . . No host lunch at the Mexican Restaurant in Ft Jones afterwards. AD: 7 miles THE: 2,850′ AEG: 1,000′ PMP: Yreka Mall/Ray’s Food Place, Ft Jones T: 9:00 am/9:30 am.
Jan 29: Castle Crags Area:
If the conditions permit we’ll hike up the PCT to check out Burstarse Falls, if it’s crummy, we’ll just hike up a paved road. AD: 6 miles THE: 2,000/2,325′ AEG: 1,000′/1,250′ PMP: Mt. Shasta Fish Hatchery T: 9:00 am.
