Mount Shasta with Autumn Snow

by John Soares on December 2, 2008

OK, I’m finally joining the long parade of local bloggers who have posted pictures of Mount Shasta with snow. This past winter and spring were so dry that our beloved mountain’s southern slopes were devoid of the white stuff, which usually sticks around at the highest elevations year-round. (I live on the north side of Mount Shasta, so I’m treated to white glacier views even on the hottest days of August.)

So here it is, my much belated Mount Shasta pic. I took this recently when Sweetheart Stephanie and I were hiking up at Castle Lake. I caught the last rays of the sun as we were driving down from the lake. (There’s a good spot about a mile or so below Castle Lake with wide-open views of the mountain.)
